a few reminders from today

that we live in southeast asia:

breakfast: sticky rice, freshly toasted peanuts, and two little bananas from the yard. ope, and then some deep-fried spring rolls and eggplant. the deep-fried habit needs to stop. but it is just ohsogood.

it was down to 85 degrees when i left for work, and i thought that merited the black jeans. yeah, you read that right. the black jeans.

before i put on the black jeans, i did the makeup: a swipe over each eyebrow with the eyebrow pencil from my little sister and a nice thick application of eyeliner, swooping out and up at the end. the end. i adopted the new eyeliner technique and gave up mascara months ago in order to, you know, blend in more with the natives.

asian makeup and black jeans applied, i coiled my now-long-enough-to-coil hair into the tightest-against-my-head bun i could manage and clipped it there. somehow this bald look has made its way up to the top of the "hairstyles i like" list.

then i drove a motocye to work.

work gets no description, but it deserves one.

on the way home, i was held up for a bit behind a guy driving his motocye down the center of the lane on the highway at 45 stinking km/h with his legs splayed apart while he hand-picked hairs from his chin. this reminded me of the guy i saw a little while ago pulling onto the freeway with an ancient withered man in the metal cart welded to the side of his motocye. it didn't even occur to me to take a second look.

when i got home, nick was whacking open yellow coconuts with a machete, and he gave me one, and we drank the juice and ate the flesh with handy little metal spoons that come free with every flavor packet at 7-11 as we crouched on the cement slabs of the back porch, previously photographed two posts ago.

also, nick tells me he found the scariest bug he's ever seen in his life amongst the roof tiles. apparently it was orange and red and centipede-like, but i still think i won with the bug that looked like a dinosaur last week.

there's the short list. hope you enjoyed it, ye olde internet fog.

love the swooped eye liner and black jeans- i won't be surprised if you have slanty eyes and black hair next time I see you (that was not a gross generalization by the way). I showed Alex Nick's shirt collar, he was impressed. Love you!
