can't believe i've never yet included a certain aspect of life here, so here goes.
here is แม่.
here are the umbrella covers she sews for a family umbrella-making business. the town in between us and chiang mai is a bit of a center for thai umbrellas; there's even an umbrella village nearby. so they go through a lot of these. there are about a thousand or two more color/pattern choices, as well. run sells a few on etsy, if you've a hankerin'.
here is where i sit to sew up the inside edges. i want to call it suturing, but i'm pretty sure that's wrong, because that's what the dermatologist did to my back in high school to save me from cancer. i will not include a picture of that part.
แม่ tells me i'm a big help, but considering how many times she has to stop what she's doing to fix the machine i've busted yet again, i feel it's only fair to let her keep the entire 6 cents she gets for each cover. i'm very generous, i know. but with house and church and work stuff, i've been a major slacker lately. therefore, i hereby commit to repentance and will serve my time on the plastic stool this week, no worries.
ps--run comes home tomorrow from bangkok. haven't seen that kid in six months, and we are STOKED. กลับมาดีๆ รันนะ !

See you tomorrow!!! เย้ๆ อยากกลับแล้ว ฮี่ๆ
Hmmm. Maybe I'll invest in an umbrella. In Spain people keep loads of them in closets, toilet brush holders, boots and more. In Utah people try not to use them because they think it makes them look stupid. Getting soaked in the rain definitely makes one look stupid.
Beautiful. Hey I love them. I did let C and T know. I suggested they look at your blog today. I think I might need one. (:
