in case you forgot that we were building a house, like we did.
jokes. we didn't really forget... we've just been rather busy--plus, i didn't feel like learning how to do electricity because i don't want to be blamed if the house blows up when someone turns on the bathroom light, meaning nick had to do it all by his lonesome... meaning the house received a total attention span of about 30 minutes to an hour and a half every night. during these mini-sessions, the following had to happen:
isn't that last one so austere and wondrous? we're hoping to be featured in the next issue of dwell. obviously.
so all that wiring stuff took a long time, because it was difficult, both logistically and technically. kudos, manfriend. if you're wondering why thais like to do all their electricity after the walls are finished, you are in good company, i assure you.
anyway, we have a few more fun little updates:
and:
!!!!
is your heart not bursting? notice the TWO things that should be making your heart burst, figuratively: 1) those stinking gaawwwgeous windows, and 2) the finished electrical plates! nick was a dear for letting me do those, because he was right when he said it was like icing a cake; just add a few more cuts and callouses (from stripping the wires, etc.), but the thrill of finishing something was the same. and he deferred that happy pleasure to me. thweetheart.
we're so close!
and yet so far, dadadundadadun....
stay tuned for the final projects:
installing ceiling (although dwell would probably prefer we skip this step, and i'll admit i have my days, too)
staining windows and doors
digging 2 giant holes for the septic tank or something
installing toilet, sinks
laying tile (floor, wall, backsplash, counters... uugh)
painting
throwing the obligatory new-house party that involves way too much karaoke and what will be a very disappointing lack of alcohol
whoop whoop!

i'm not sure if you're real rockstars in the karaoke sense. maybe i'll have to jet over to find out.
Looking good!!!
my heart is bursting at the sight of those windows!!!!!!!!! Somehow I was unaware of your last 3 posts. Thanks for the shout out :-). Dang girl, you are awesome. It has been really inspiring to watch you overcome such a hard thing. I wish I could just give you a big fat hug!
I can't get enough of those windows.
I didn't even know there was a magazine called "Dwell."
