after a very early morning, a neverending day, and a latelate night, we have made some cool little jumps in our progress. the end is nigh--as we are sometimes reminded by the Jesus Bus's loudspeaker as it putt-putts through the neighborhood--but there is still a mountain of tile waiting to be laid. aoighajdfhd.
check out that ceiling. there are a few bugs in it. i was forced to sacrifice them to the roller god when they repeatedly refused to get out of my way (bit of a lose-lose situation for everybody, really), so it's definitely not perfect, but i was a little beyond fussing about that by dinnertime. but if you're scoffing my tape job, it's because i didn't do one. and it's plaster. so poo, poo.
also, the lights are neat, huh. especially because when we turned on the breaker and flipped the light switches... they turned on!!! now i know for certain that nick can do magic.
and here's our little patch of tile. only about 100 more square meters to go! trust me, i've been grateful for our future abode's modest square footage more than once so far.
and in case you've been getting all apoplectic in your anticipation to see our tile choices, allow me to release you from your pains. let's just say that we didn't buy the most expensive stuff in the stores. even though we really wanted to. instead, we got stuff that will work remarkably well as tile, which i'm pretty sure is its main job. points!
ope, and finally, a view from the top. courtesy of those magic lights i mentioned (but only three of them, because we haven't bought the rest of the light bulbs. details, details).
tired. goin' on two hot dates with nicholas tomorrow: breakfast with orphanage directors (or something, and no, it's not a real date, but we'll pretend) and in the evening, a cambodian circus troupe of some sort that will be performing the story of the khmer rouge with acrobatics. should be intriguing, no?
