fare thee well, 2010

okay, so it's already 1:15pm on january 1st, but there are still some folks in our native land living in the past, so this is for you:

2010 was neat. here's how we said goodbye to it:

nothin' like roadside grilled corn to take the edge off a day that starts at 3am with a 4-hour drive through the freezing mountains with the windows down, especially when you get to sit in the backseat by your lonesome to really get the full effect of the refreshing breeze. happy birthday to me! 24 hours later, i can easily say that there are worse things that could happen, but nick will gladly affirm that such was not the case yesterday morning. oh, well. better attitudes to be striven for this year, i suppose.

i could write a really saccharine post that would make everybody sniffle with tenderness--promise--but i'll save that for later, because we've already had two posts in a row that were much lighter on idiocy than normal, and i don't want to unsettle anyone.

instead, i'll just say happy new year! cuz that's easier,
and then i'll go finish wiring the house with this sexy man:

after a lifetime in texas, he can finally say he's a real cowboy. thanks, พ่อ.

Do they have fireworks on New Years? It seems most foreign countries try to burn themselves down with fireworks on any ocassion they can.
