lessons elyssa should be learning but isn't yet

guess what, friends? i'm a wee bit colorblind. this is probably not shocking news to anyone who witnessed my high school wardrobe, but i didn't even know until freshman year of college; thanks a lot, bio 101, for destroying my confidence AND my credibility in any and all color decisions with the man friend ["oh, really, elyssa? you think that doesn't look nice? well, how about we go with the opinions of the non-visually impaired this time, okay?" for the record, this is coming from someone who doesn't mind wearing his navy shirt with his navy jeans, cuz he's a popsicle. i rest my case].

when discussing what color our roof would be, i finally threw my hands up and said i didn't care, just as long as it wasn't red or orange.

now, i know i'm somewhat compromised in the visual spectrum arena, but something is fishy here... let the record state that pizza hut did not fund any portion of the construction of this edifice, hard as that may be to believe.

the original plan was to paint all the tiles--we bought handfuls of used tiles from every neighbor and relative in sankamphaeng because used are 1/6 the price of new--a lovely shade of plum. after some quick internet research, however, we were able to convince พ่อ that painting roof tiles is way pricier, time-consuminger, and ineffectiver than we had all assumed. that left us with a hodgepodge of black, brown, gray, purple, red, orange, green, and white tiles to turn into something less than offensive. the result? two sides of red and orange, one side of brown and purple, and one side of black and red. luckily, the sith lord side is facing the neighbors--our roof is a little taller than theirs, so they won't be visually assaulted each morning. we're not that rude.

at first, i was beyond devastated. i mean, what other reaction is there to such a travesty? and then i remembered, again, that we are going to have a house. gee whiz, it's taking me forever to let that sink in and to be grateful for it instead of fretting incessantly over how beautiful the roof [insert: tiles, walls, light fixtures, window frames, etc.] is.

i just need to stinkin' keep remembering saturday morning. it was pretty, huh?

sabai, sabai, folks.

ps i'll post pictures of what the roof really looks like tomorrow. forgot to point'n'shoot today.

I'm excited to see this roof. Don't feel too deflated over the color scheme. I've got yellow/cream "marbled" plastic counter tops and have had to look at them morning, noon and night for over a year. It's an eyesore. At least you've got trees to distract your eyes from the roof, no?

I found the last post very amusing. Nick has cute students. Saturday morning looks like it was beautiful. I'm insterested to see the other sides of the roof. I'm sure you will forget what color it is once you are cozy inside with your own space to do WHATEVER you want in. You have a house!
