i just found this post

from last year. enjoy.

...

guess what. it's my SPRING BREAK this week. YES. except it's snowed pretty much every day, meaning i spend almost all of every day holed up in our "recording studio" instead of getting some sun on this face, which it most dreadfully needs, as pointed out so delicately by several of my first-graders: "mrs. morrill! you got pimples all over your face!" "i got some cream for to make no more itches if you need it, cuz those look like they itch like crazy!" "i can't even look at your face anymore, cuz those red things scare me!"

etc. and no, i'm not exaggerating. love those devils.

BUT the week did start out admirably enough, with a KILLER ROCKIN' MUSE CONCERT. you are jealous, trust me. unless you're kate and brock, because they were also at the KILLER ROCKIN' MUSE CONCERT, and therefore may bask in our shared glory.

it was amazing. i've never witnessed anything quite like it. talk about an entrance! see these three skyscrapers with lit-up silhouettes of people walking up them? we were all bummed cuz the lights in the middle were broken, cuz how embarrassing is that?

but oh, wait...

the walls disappeared and, SURPRISE, there they were. and then the lasers started shooting around, and my brain exploded. literally. my ears were still pulsing two hours after the concert when we finally got home (who designs parking lots at concert venues? are they, too, the work of my first-graders? this i highly doubt, because a) they live in orem, b) underage labor laws?, and c) they would do a much better job). usually really loud concerts bug me, but this one was perfect. it made me miss my wee brother paulikins, because he was my MUSE buddy, and we'd roll the windows down in the car and blast, "I WANT YOU NOW, I WANT YOU NOOOOOOW... GIVE ME YOUR HEART AND YOUR SOOOOOOOOOUL!!" quite loudly throughout the town. sigh.

it was also a revealing night in my relationship with nick, because this was the first-ever legit concert we've been to together--crazy talk. and i discovered that nick is a sit-there-quietly-without-so-much-as-nodding-the-head type of concert-goer. at MUSE. i thought this impossible before, but the man is a complete stoic. i wish i'd gotten a picture of him sitting--SITTING--there, so peaceful and serene as the stadium was on the verge of collapse. i, on the other hand, felt like i was on crack and could NOT stop fidgeting: slapping my hands around, jiggling my legs, tossing my head... occasionally i just had to ignore the fact that i looked like a moron standing on my own, because i couldn't take it. you HAVE TO MOVE TO MUSE. period.

man, it was glorious. thanks for the 4-months-in-the-waiting anniversary present, love. you are a sweetums.

p.s. we leave this place in 18 days. holy. cow.

(thai elyssa speaking again: wasn't that fun when i used to be such a crackhead? and when i taught first graders how to read? awww. also, in a fun twist, we arrive back in the states in, you guessed it, 18 days. holy. cow.)

BAAH I'M SO EXCITED TO SEE YOU!

And I just wanted to remind you that I check your blog multiple times a day, even though I suck at commenting. Your house. is. AWESOME. I LOVE the green. And I totally did think it was your idea.

Also, I'm pretty sure your blog is the only one Silas reads. He doesn't even read mine.

Also, we have never been to a concert together. I have never been to a concert period. Muse sounded awesome. One day, one day...
