first off, happy halloween, everyone. we celebrated it by getting a flat tire on the way to church and enjoying the motorcycle repair shop where we paid a dollar to fix it, and by eventually going to church, which went 45 minutes longer than it was supposed to. four hours in the same seat is a long time. but we got to clap and eat chocolate bars during the last 15 minutes, so... it was pretty much nothing like anything i've experienced in provo, and that's always nice. and then a very nice guy nick's age was baptized. also neat. also, we had 18 investigators yesterday. is it just me, or is that insane? after eating lots of food and chatting with some visitors for an inordinate amount of time (i was really excited to be able to talk a lot. it's been an oddly silent 6 months for me), we went to phi doi's house for more amazing food. yummmmm. to finish the day, we watched the nightmare before christmas on the computer for an hour before we couldn't take it anymore. i just felt obligated, as nick didn't even know what that movie was, because he is an alien. so there. happy halloween.
i also have a really cute picture of some of my students with halloween drawings, but guess whose internet is deciding my edited image--blurry faces fix the problem of not asking permission to post said faces on the internet, right?--is "corrupt?"
moving on. พ่อ's been on this kick for the past 5 or so weeks called the "dhamma music kick." at anywhere from 5:30-7am, this starts playing from the computer at full volume and continues for about an hour. i would be lying if i said i didn't enjoy it. there's also a song that involves lots of tibetan men chanting that i quite enjoy, but i have yet to find it. ps i found this song using my first thai language google search. not even gonna pretend i'm not super proud, even though พ่อ told me what to search.
finally, here's the game: 1) look at this picture we took right after getting out of bed this morning.
2) notice the indentation on the pillow that marks where my head was.
3) remember that nick doesn't sleep with a pillow lately in a weird attempt to correct his posture.
4) guess where nick was when we woke up. also, guess where nick is every morning.
he thinks this is hilarious.
